Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Democracy struggles to keep up with a population that increasingly can’t even agree on what are the facts. This is something that no one saw coming, and at its heart are social media platforms.
I would put at least as much blame on lying, left-wing controlled “mainstream media,” including the Trib.
This is Tom’s mea culpa, his acknowledgment of a personal error or fault, and if you read between the lines, he’s basically said that he’s now a closet Republican. As the only white man in countywide office in Cook County, the Democrats want him gone to give the office way to another one of their cronies.
