By the end of the night, turnout had reached 22.56%, out of about 1.5 million registered voters. Part of the reason comes down to the presidential race at the top of the ballot, said Max Bever, director of public information for the election board. "We see low turnout when there is not much competition at the top of the ballot. And this year, we are also seeing a rematch, which can be tough for voters."
Voting should be on a weekend when most people are not working or commuting to and from work and then have to stand in line or even take a few hours off from work to vote. This would be more convenient for many and turnout should be larger.
Paper ballots only unless you are handicapped by verification and all ballots must arrive by the close of voting day. Make sure to mail at least a few days earlier and the post office should consider the ballots as priority mail or special delivery.
Doesn’t matter if it’s on a Sunday, if people don’t have more choice/choices in a heavily Gerrymandered state what do you think people are going to do, we know the answer.

us seniors showed up, it was 100% seniors (me) when I went to vote….we’re so sick of the progressive crap.
Yup, it’s pathetic how few people vote, the general public are idiots and the machine counts on it. The two groups you can always count on showing up are 1.) seniors, and 2.) public sec workers and their spouses. The bigger story with BCH is ‘new machine’ progressives planned on a low voter turnout to try a sneak BCH through in a primary, because that’s how they got similar tax referendums past in places like LA, and despite CTU spending $400gs in union dues and getting their army out to work the streets they took a face plant….I’m hoping Burke… Read more »
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
