South Shore residents blast city’s plan to house migrants at repurposed school – Hyde Park Herald

South Shore High SchoolWhile some attendees questioned officials on the plans for the shelter, they were often drowned out by others in the crowd shouting statements like “we don’t want them here” and “close the border,” arguing new arrivals should be housed in predominantly Spanish-speaking neighborhoods like Little Village or more affluent North Side neighborhoods. One attendee stood with a large sign that read, “Build The Wall 2024.”

Where’s the tolerance? Where is the inclusion? Why so racist?

It is hard for me to believe that two 1940s graduates of South Shore HS became Noble Prize winners and an early 1960s graduate became a software billionaire. These wetbacks introduced into the community will accelerate the decline of the neighborhood that I once
loved.

No community in America more than the black community, gets what they vote for.

Really good article in Epoch on the ‘Ruination of American Cities’ with Chicago as the latest basket case. Encouraged illegal immigration into a ‘sanctuary’ city but one of the techniques to ruin a city – the Leftist Democrats want to turn Chicago into a third world slum. Get out if you can.

That article is a terrible and demoralizing propaganda piece! Articles like it are the reason people are reluctant to take a stand against this mess. Ridiculous statements like “We’ll never win,” “Illinois is already gone,” “There’s nothing we can do,” and “We’re all alone” distort the facts and are a substantial part of the problem. Posting your comment under an image of folks shouting down politicians further reinforces my point.

We need more articles like this, Wirepoints. I love this! Everyone on the street knows the Emperor wears no clothes. Conservatism is going viral everywhere I look.

Momentum and hope can only be sustained if built on honest reporting of facts.

There is plenty of momentum right now and it is in the wrong direction. And I hope to leave the state before the music stops

Polls consistently show that no progressive policies are popular with constituents- not the Green New Deal, not unlimited immigration, not unlimited abortion on demand, not crime policies, not gender issues… None of these things are what most people want. Yet in this state the purveyors of these ideas are overwhelmingly voted into office. At this point it’s clear that something else is going on. They are selling access to the public trough, and enough people believe them to get them elected. These “demonstrations” mean nothing. Everybody already knows that these policies are unpopular. As long as they keep people believing… Read more »

I don’t even think they’re keeping people believing in them at this point.

once again, if your Abbott, DeSantis, RNC mega donors, RNC, etc…you got to be planning about a week before Chicago DNC convention your sending as many chartered buses, planes, buying one way tickets, etc packed with 10s of thousands of undocumented immigrants north to sanctuary Chicago…..this self inflected train wreck is just to good and opportunity to pass up.

This is only a taste of what’s to come. The Gateway Pundit has pictures from south of the border of a million people waiting for Title 42 to end next week. You think it’s bad now? Bidet clearly wants to destroy this country. Chicago is a sanctuary city, maybe they’ll all come to the City of Big Shoulders.

This what the city residents have to look forward to. It will make tax increases necessary to house them.

This will be remembered throughout history as the invasion that became the beginning of the end. These people don’t want to become Americans. They want to take what you have and keep it for themselves…Did the Goths want to become Roman citizens? Did the Anglos want to come Britons? Did the Huns want to integrate into the cultures of the Steepe?

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
