Gov. JB Pritzker proposed essentially flat funding for K-12 schools in the next fiscal year. ISBE, however, is seeking a $406.5 million increase, or 4.6 percent, above current year spending. That would bring its total state funding to just over $9.3 billion.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
