"Even after spotting the UI’s Chicago campus its special taxpayer add-ons for the hospital that it manages, under President (Tim) Killeen’s general operations allocations, the students of the Urbana campus end up effectively subsidizing the UIC campus."
This situation may actually be worse, in that UIC is largely a commuter school and has the CTA to serve it, while Champaign needs all the dorms and a bus system. I wonder if Killeen is just a water carrier for all the state representatives whose districts are gerrymandered and start in Chicago. He must answer to the citizens on why this has expanded while he was the supposed leader of the system.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
