The case has drawn the attention of national gun control advocates and gun rights advocacy groups, all of which submitted or contributed to amicus briefs in the case. The city of Chicago and Cook County also filed an amicus brief in support of the FOID law, saying it has been an effective tool in helping them combat gun violence.

Lesson #2: The states demanded 2nd amendment rights as a condition for the creation of a federal government.
Lesson #3: Therefore; the state of Illinois has a vested interest in preserving 2nd amendment rights.
