You all need to work on your attitudes. This is a different environment. Nobody likes the status quo’s candidate. Let’s working on giving all of them the middle finger. Nikki Halley recently lost to ‘none of these candidates’ and I can’t think of anything more poetic.

There hasn’t been an upset in Cook County politics in 50 years. The machine’s favored candidate always wins, by hook or by crook. Burke is naive to believe that she has any chance of winning. It’s noble of her I guess to keep up the charade. She should just concede today and give the job to Harris. I have always been intrigued all my life why endorsements like this are so important because, to me, a voter that relies on endorsements quite often votes a party line rather than making individual selections based upon their own judgement.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
