“After five hours of virtual lectures, no one can bring themselves to do two more hours of e-learning,” Glenbard South senior Collin Murphy said. “This is not a shortcoming of my peers or my teachers, this is a fundamental flaw in e-learning, there is no classroom environment.”

Remote learning is the result of state and local school district policy. Local school district policy is the result of locally elected school boards whose members directly pass policies and approve the contracts of employees who make various rules and decisions. The next school board election (outside Chicago) is Tuesday April 6, 2021. The period to circulate petitions (obtain registered voter signatures) for that election is September 22 – December 21, 2020. The petitions and associated paperwork must be filed with the appropriate election authority between December 14 – December 21, 2020.
