Suburbs, warmer cities step up efforts to lure cops away from Chicago – Chicago Sun-Times*

The Northbrook Police Department got 40 applications from Chicago officers for one pending job opening there, says Chris Kennedy, Northbrook’s police chief, a former high-ranking Chicago cop. “Just from the people I’ve talked to, everyone is trying to get out if they can,” Kennedy says.

““I’ve never had anyone swearing at me or threatening to beat me or hurt my family, nothing like that,” the officer says, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “I’ve never even felt at risk since I’ve been here, not that anything like that can’t happen.”

These communities are the only friends you have left in Illinois. If you start enforcing the dictates of the regime, like mask mandates and vaccination cards, you will soon lose the only remaining friends you have left.

Come out to the western suburbs. We can use you in DuPage County where the thugs have started to infiltrate. The difference is the Dupage County prosecutor will actually press charges. We don’t believe in the Lil Kim approach.

“We don’t believe in the Lil Kim approach.”

You told us you left Illinois. Now you’re writing”we” when referring to Dupage County. It actually makes sense though. Why would anyone that leaves the state spend so much time reading and writing comments about Illinois? That would be one sick individual.

Your concern for me is quite touching. My other residence in a nice warm state is appreciating nicely. I’ll establish full time residency status there when it suits me, not you. When you moderate this board you can tell me what to do. Idiot.

You said you left Illinois. Now you are saying that you have a second residence outside of Illinois. Your moniker is “Ex Illini” insinuating that you are no longer in Illinois. Now we find out that you also have a residence in DuPage county. Which means you continue to pay taxes in Illinois. You have lied about your status and have been caught. Keep paying your taxes “ex” Illinois guy. Haha.

Caught lying? I’ve posted with the same name here all along. I live here part time and pay my real estate taxes like everyone else, except your hero Jabba, who evades his. Now try to get back to sleep without thinking about a power shift that takes your pension away.

You haven’t left Illinois then. You aren’t “Ex” Illini but instead part-time Illini and you continue to pay taxes here. Also, do you actually think changing governors will take away pensions? Wow are you delusional. Please show me a post where I’ve stated anything about supporting JB. I hope he loses the next election. You’re probably just confused about my politics because I believe we are required by the constitution of Illinois and the US to pay our bills. Following the constitution is typically a conservative approach but because it means taxes will go up suddenly it’s not so conservative.… Read more »

PFF you may be a realist but you’re far too cynical and negative. That energy isn’t helping our case to kick JB out of office. The negativity is demoralizing and isn’t needed. Steve Bannon the other day had some really positive energy because we killed the Biden administartion in the crib and the Democrats polling is awful awful awful. He said it’s a once in a generation opportunity, like 1994, to ride a red wave into power. Illinois benefited greatly from the 1994 and the 2014 red waves, and without a doubt, we could benefit greatly too in 2022. It’s… Read more »

While I understand your sentiment, I don’t believe pointing out the true political landscape is negative. I also don’t believe the power of positive thinking will get JB out of office. I believe it will take a red wave which certainly looks likely along with the GOP voters coalescing around their candidate in the general. Ken is backing Irvin and with his money that should make him the frontrunner in the primary. If Irvin is the candidate will all the people that don’t think he is a republican actually vote for him? If Irvin doesn’t win the primary will Ken… Read more »

“I believe it will take a red wave which certainly looks likely along with the GOP voters coalescing around their candidate in the general.” So we’re saying the same thing, except I’m saying the glass is half full and you’re saying it’s half empty. Conservatives are extremely angry at JB. Independents don’t like him either just as they have soured on Biden. The two are inexorably tied whether pundits want to admit it or not. JB’s approval rating prior to corona was pretty low and other than keeping mask mandates in place longer than the rest of our surrounding states,… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
