Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Duckworth’s comment that she is representing the citizens of Illinois is laughable at best. 2022 she was rejected by 89 of the 102 counties. Duckworth is the senator of CookCounty where she took 75% of the vote.

You’re half right re her, spot on re McCain. My veteran son, never one to speak ill of anyone no matter how odious a person they are, simply made a face and said “ Yeesh!” when I asked him about McCain as a presidential contender. Talk about an economy of words speaking volumes.
The liberal senators were just posing for their base, which is all they have now. Enough of the moderate Democrat base either swung over to Trump or simply didn’t vote. The abysmal ratings of the staunch liberal media sources tells you something. The anti Trumpers are as vehemently opposed as ever however, and are damn near psychotic. The progressive extremist politicians will continue to pander, and poor little Tammy is a perfect example. She’s a one trick pony.
And the trick is appearing once in a while to parrot whatever socialist/ Marxist lunacy she, Dick or any other loathsome Dem has cooked up.
She made the state a laughingstock, but what else is new? The Pentagon has failed 7 audits in a row, all under Secretaries of Defense she voted to confirm.
The entire hearing was pointless, low rent theatre, IMO, as most of these confirmation hearings have become. My favorite was when the stupid Democrat senator asked Hegseth what a JAGoff was. Somebody set him up. This is the equivalent of Bart Simpson prank calling Moe’s tavern to ask for “Lee Key Bum”. An embarrassment of epic proportions.
