Task force considers changes to qualified immunity for Illinois law enforcement officers – Capitol News IL

The Illinois Constitutional Rights and Remedies Task Force was created under the SAFE-T Act, a criminal justice reform omnibus bill that became law earlier this year. While there was much debate, both sides agreed that cases dismissed on qualified immunity grounds are a “relatively small” fraction of the overall cases focusing on rights violations by officers.

If Police in Illinois lose their qualified immunity, all politicians should as well. Politicians do far more damage every day and should be able to be held accountable.
