Texas GOP gives Illinois businesses reasons to stay away – Crain’s*

Greg Hinz: "After losing the headquarters of Boeing and Caterpillar, but gaining a chunk of a Kellogg that’s now breaking into three pieces—it’s obvious that Illinois has hope but can use some help in retaining and attracting corporate HQs and the jobs and prestige and come with it. That help has arrived, in the form of the proceedings of last weekend’s convention of the Texas Republican Party.  Whatever its intent, the party wrote a script of what not to say in an era where attracting top talent is the top priority for most companies, and when that talent knows it can move and work anywhere in the world."

I’ll give a big “who cares?”
48 other states to choose from, most are in better shape and more amenable to business compared to Illinois. But here’s why Texas is bad! Typical lazy, slanted cancel culture reporting.

Good to be able to comment on Greg’s articles and point out what a buffoon he is. Used to be able to do it on Crain’s until they shut down the comments. The majority usually disagreed with him.

I work for a large multi national so I am bombarded with months , colors and letters. It wears employees out to be constantly reminded that everyone but you belongs.

I didn’t even know there was a transgender flag until I saw it at work.
They also happened to hire a transgender person in a department that my department would not interact with, but there were lessons in tolerance preached to us. You want me to become intolerant? Keep bombarding me with tolerance lectures. Everyone’s a precious little snowflake, even if they have psychological issues.
Companies these days are surely not in the business of maximizing shareholder value.

Greg, you are living in the distant past. Nobody cares about your SJW posturing when there are bullets flying and your bank account is being drained.
There are obviously many, many more reasons to leave IL than stay, and the U Haul rentals prove it every day.
People and corporations leaving is an indicator of the future, just like the stock market. There is no future in IL, so that’s why the rush to the exits will continue for decades.
Read a census report and analyze that.

Pearl clutching from a loser in legacy media. No one care what this loser has to say. He is, as they say, irrelevant

Nobody cares greg. Taxes affect everyone. Abortion doesn’t. The world’s richest man who launches rockets and builds the most advanced vehicle in the world and then world’s largest heavy equipment maker could care less too. Keep writing your trash that nobody reads or buys anymore and lets see where you and IL are in 10 years compared to TX, Tesla and CAT.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
