The blind leading the blind! NYC Mayor Eric Adams turns to Chicago’s Lori Lightfoot for ideas on how to tackle subway crime and gun violence – Daily Mail

Crime in NYC is up by over 45 percent compared to this time last year as Adams battles a growing crisis at Rikers Island - the city's main jail - as well as a spike in hate crimes and an overburdened court system. In Chicago, crime is up by 34 percent. 'We are gonna be great partners in the work that we're all doing,' Lightfoot told reporters.

YTD 2022 has more recorded homicides that 2018, 2019, 2020, and the 4th highest homicide total since 2011 and almost 600 shot. Great plan Mr/Mrs/?? Mayor and Mr Downtown Brown police superintendent. Keep up the good work.

Here lies problem with American political system: elected officials too inept, too intellectually uncurious, too corrupt to appropriately and meaningfully address civic problems. This “meeting” is mere photo op. Lightfoot should reimburse Chicago coffers for the airfare and limo-rides; hope her NYC vacation-visit was otherwise “fun”.

These Democrats are comical. What’s next– Aaron Rodgers coming to Halas Hall to get advice on good quarterbacking? Chicago aldermen giving ethics training? Or maybe Chicago Public Schools offering a seminar on how to run a big school system?

OK, I get it: the NYC mayor should’ve put a little more thought in who to choose to get ideas on reducing crime, and water is a little wet.

Easy. Very easy Mr. Mayor. Hire Bernard Goetz! You can also flood the subway during a crime spree. The Atlantic Ocean is right there. Chicago can do the same with Lake Michigan.
The best solution though is “Snake Plissken”

The inmates are running the asylum in large blue cities. BD Lightfoot is giving advice on how to curb crime now? I can’t think of a more ridiculous scenario.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
