One culprit is a surge in migration.... Chicago reported “that an influx of new arrivals,” mostly migrants bused and flown from other states, “accounted for more than 13,600 people in emergency shelters.” Since 2019 the number of homeless has soared in Illinois (15,633).
The complete flop of ILLINOIS (16,863) new housing permits is vrs a Florida (193,788) or Texas (232,373) one would think would be a complete embarrassment for JB & company claims of a booming economy but is rarely even mentioned in Chi/Ill press??:
Compare the number of new housing permits issued last year in Texas (232,373) and Florida (193,788), versus California (117,760), New York (48,807) and Illinois (16,863).
Who would build a house in IL? So the communist cabal can tax you out of it and give it to the underserved for $1 as part of redistributing the wealth? No thanks.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

Pritzker is never embarrassed by any Illinois travesty. He has chutzpah to the nth degree.
Here’s JB announcing new committee to address housing development for “middle-class” all while state & city keep passing more anti-housing developer/ crazy renter rights/ crazy green energy bills putting Illinois almost dead last in new housing starts nationally. Meanwhile, housing and rents are dropping in booming sunbelt states like TX & FL BECAUSE THEY’VE BUILT SO MUCH…a complete joke : (https://www.chicagoconstructionnews.com/pritzker-unveils-statewide-initiative-to-address-housing-shortage-focuses-on-middle-income-families/)
