‘The Governor’s Office of New Americans’: Yes, there is one, and it’s getting money for unknown purposes – Wirepoints Quickpoint

What, you may ask, is “The Governor’s Office of New Americans”?

We never heard of it either, but last year $1.2 million was quietly transferred into it by Gov. JB Pritzker unilaterally. That’s according to a Wednesday Center Square report.

It came up during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing. State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet), according to Center Square, pointed out that last fiscal year the money went to the new agency. “It’s $1.2 million, which certainly isn’t a billion but we all know it adds up. It’s $1.2 million that we don’t know where it’s being spent,” said Rose. “People deserve to know where it’s going … and this 8% discretionary authority, it makes it very hard to track where all this is going.”

Deputy Governor Andy Manar confirmed the transfer of money to The Governor’s Office of New Americans. “This [$1.2 million] is in the process of being implemented both this current fiscal year and next, working with DHS,” said Manar.

Rose’s questions about the money apparently focused on whether they were within normal guidelines for transfer powers governors traditionally exercise between various funds. However, it would be interesting to know what else was transferred pursuant to the chain of Pritzker’s emergency orders for migrants. As we wrote earlier, those orders authorized Pritzker alone to do pretty much all he wants for immigrants. Among the powers assumed by Pritzker under the most recent order:

  • It authorized Pritzker to “transfer the direction, personnel, or functions of State departments and agencies” as necessary to implement emergency measures.
  • It suspended ordinary purchasing rules — the Illinois Procurement Code and the Illinois Governmental Joint Purchasing Act – insofar as they would get in the way.
  • For grant-making, it suspended the Grant Accountability, Transparency Act and the Illinois Administrative Code, which require the state to conduct merit-based applications and review, insofar as they would get in the way.
  • It covered the entire state, proclaiming all counties as disaster areas.
  • Most importantly, it kept active the State Emergency Operations Plan. That plan consists of hundreds of pages allowing for displacement of seemingly all normal state operations – everything from public safety, communications, transportation, housing and healthcare to household pets.

With a little digging, I found that a “Governor’s Office of New Americans” was authorized ten years ago under Gov. Rod Blagojevich. It presumably went dormant, but apparently is alive again.

Maybe it’s his Twinkie fund? Okay, that was unkind… But reasonable… For any who are not brainwashed by the MSM, what is happening in the US is happening in plain-sight. It is a willful desire to change the makeup of this nation… Not by the injection of folks of different ethnicity, but by folks who did not journey here to assimilate and become part of this great experiment. Folks who understand the pluralistic nature of our populace… A populace that, other than the weak and perpetual self-victims, refers to itself as “AMERICANS” first and then something else after. We’re doomed… Read more »

Hmm, I’ll bet that $1.2 million came from taxpaying old American citizens.

1.2 million is just enough seed money to hire 2 to 4 woke lawyers that will begin to codify how to legally steer the woke immigrant ship. Their output will resurrect this department, and probably write the next bill to go in front of Springfield. It’s a “skunk works”, that’s when a company wants to circumvent a small group of talented employees from all red tape in order to innovate the next killer product for the company. I’ve been on many skunk work projects in electronic engineering, they are fun to work on, all creativity without the hassle of company… Read more »

Some people see the glass half full, others see it half empty. I see a glass that’s twice as big as it needs to be. “George Carlin”

Democrats are evil people. They’re importing a new class of people to be dependent on government. Vote Trump, and get them all deported to save our country.

You should listen to what this guy has to say. Skip to 23 minute mark. It’s quite enlightening, and he sounds amazingly conservative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lZijWYpW60

He’s not a king. Quit giving him more credit than he deserves. Your true colors are showing.

He unilaterally makes decisions and rules through executive orders. Now, when are you going to run for office so you can fix everything?

It sounds more like despotism to me. Nothing is going to change if AM radio guys keep calling Pritzker a king. I can do more outside of office, and you’ve come to the same conclusion. LOL

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
