But anyone who talks to Tom Weitzel sees clearly that he loves law enforcement and the officers he served. In retirement, he has been focused on getting legislation through to make the murder of a police officer a federal offense, and counsels families after losing a loved one in the line of duty.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
