The index is missing a key criteria, which is historical political party vote (Republican, Democrat, etc.), which is the whole point of the primary.

Someone probably figures well as long as a more liberal state moves in front of IA or NH, although Illinois is our ideal choice, we can live with something less than Illinois.

After the 2016 election, California moved it’s primary to super Tuesday to garner more influence in the Democratic nomination process. California should be careful what it wishes for because many of its political views are literally toxic in the rest of the country. CA may end up being responsible for both the nomination of Bernie, and at the same time, the reelection of Trump, and conservative presidents for many years thereafter, as the California early primary forever ensures that the DNC nominates only left wing nutjobs that repulse the rest of the country. The ideal scenario for Democrats would be to have a state of the art Chicago lakefront Obama Liberal Training Center in the same state to vote first in presidential nominating contests.
