The handful of comments in the articles linked in the Reader guide are very insightful. (The articles themselves are sophomoric drivel). The comments tear apart the author’s entire premise. Black people in Chicago have a very slightly higher use of force rate than white people in Chicago, but both rates are far below the national average for all races. Chicago cops use LESS force than they do nationally, despite a murder and shooting rate that is exponentially higher than other cities.
