The Sanctuary State Migrant Boom – Wall Street Journal

While many migrants moved to Texas (319,569) and Florida (411,322), masses also flocked to California (361,057), New York (207,161), Illinois (112,955) and New Jersey (130,692). In the latter sanctuary states, foreign migration more than offset domestic out-migration: California (-239,575), New York (-120,917), Illinois (-56,235) and New Jersey (-35,554).

Yes, by importing poverty. Which means crime and increased welfare expenditures. But that is what the DEMS are counting on. And they have been successful as evidenced by the control they have in Illinois- which used to be a swing state.
If immigrants have high level unique skills and/or large sums of capital to establish new high paying jobs for our CITIZENS, then immigration can be a positive force. But. of course, the exact opposite is the situation which is exactly what the DEMS are counting on .

Thanks JB. More people expecting handouts and more bands a criminals. IL needs to vote to revoke the sanctuary status. JB, listen to the voters.

This is exactly why Governor Abbott’s initiative to relocate illegals to sanctuary states was nothing but a stunt, and a counterproductive one at that. He was actually HELPING the Dems achieve their goal of becoming a permanent political majority. Once that happens it won’t matter just how broke Illinois, and California, and New York are. The Dem majority will vote for a FEDERAL bailout of broke States.
In the meantime, watch how the millions of 3rd world illegals degrade or quality of life in the U.S.

It was double edge sword, you have to bring the Democrat cities to the brink for force change.
This will help for the census and allocating representation but illegals should not count for representation in determining house seats. (this needs to be fixed can it?) With the lack of a Democrat administration that will shovel billions to failing blue states they are in for a very rude awaking. This is also causing a lot of solid blue to rethink their political views when they and their children have to sacrifice any services like schooling.

It was a stunt which worked to bring attention to uncontrolled illegal immigration. And it worked. Immigration was one of the top issues. As for helping Dems achieve their goals of becoming a permanent majority – they will keep trying for sure – but a few hundred thousand illegals in blue states is a drop in the bucket compared to the expected TEN ELECTORAL VOTES blue states are going to lose in the 2030 census reapportionment. Texas is forecasted to gain four, while Florida is expected to pick up three. Meanwhile, Idaho, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah are expected to… Read more »

Unlike our governor, TX wasn’t going to sit there and eat shit while illegals( invited by Joe) ran wild committing crime and gobbling up social services like the plague of locusts they are. I guess you don’t see the difference between a good governor that cares about his voters and the one IL has.

The numbers don’t lie. The Wall Street Journal article which forms the basis of this Wirepoints post clearly states that Illinois received 112,955 illegals from 2021 to present. As recently as March 2024 Texas was boasting that it had sent 30,800 illegals to illinois. Texas Transports Over 100,000 Migrants To Sanctuary Cities | Office of the Texas Governor | Greg Abbott So at least 27% of the illegals in Illinois since 2021 are here courtesy of Greg Abbott. Per the 2020 Census the population of Illinois was 12,549,689. U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts: Illinois Accordingly, per the numbers used in the… Read more »

How many illegals residing in IL were never counted in the first place? How many nationwide? How many were flown in the dead of night/ bussed by Joe and his cabal? Didn’t the feds stop the additional measures that TX tried to take in impeding the progress of illegals across the Rio Grand? Didn’t Myorkas lie about the conduct of his agents and reassign them to housekeeping and making sandwiches for the illegals? Yet the flow of illegals from a state overwhelmed by them is that governor’s fault. I’m not sure who Abbot is, but by his words and actions… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
