There’s No ‘Sanctuary’ For Family Of Woman Allegedly Killed By Illegal Alien – The Federalist

Katie Abraham sits along the lakefront. She was killed in a car crash in January.“Somehow we can follow some laws and we don’t have to follow other laws, but who’s accountable for this?” Abraham said. “You talk about this due process … Katie didn’t get any due process.”

Sanctuary policies are not about love and compassion. They are about stupidity and the normalization of lawlessness. Immigration laws were put in place for good reasons. LEGAL immigration does work.
My neighbor who came here LEGALLY from Venezuela is not a fan of open borders either. Best neighbor ever.

Most Immigrants are here to better their lives and their families’ lives. Just like Tens of millions of other immigrants have for centuries. There is always a few bad among all groups of people, including born in America. These immigrants are the new face of Chicago, so get used to it.

Legal immigration is fine but open borders don’t work. Open borders will destroy a country. You should listen to historian Victor Davis Hanson. He explains it very well.

As sad and tragic as her case is, how does abrograting due process for those “accidentally” sent improve her case? This isn’t a zero sum game between them. The guy sent to El Salvador did not commit the crime in her case.

First, some immigrant groups have extremely low rates of crime, such as Indians and Chinese. Lumping all immigrants together hides this fact. Separating by country of origin would probably provide a far different picture. Second, native-born group includes people who are the children of illegal immigrants. Would separating out the children of illegals… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
