Ted was on The Chicago Way with John Kass and Jeff Carlin this week discussing the state of the Illinois governor’s race. For too long, Ted told John Kass, the opposition in Illinois has surrendered its principles for a “seat at the table” to make bad deals less bad. But this year is the perfect time for a candidate to distinguish himself by actually talking about Illinois’ problems and providing concrete solutions.

Expect no retraction or apology. This what they do.
The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.
Like Eric Adams called himself the “Biden of Brooklyn”, Pritzker is the “Biden of Illinois”. He’s going to do exactly what the Biden Administration wants him to do and then the Biden Administration is going to give him exactly what he wants. And what he wants is to be re-elected.
Great interview summing up Illinois beyond dismal repressive state politics!! Regarding the pathetic Republican governor candidates, a while back I made a comment that it was absolutely pathetic none of the Republican governor candidates was even mentioning Amendment 1 and the PPF commenter (I think its great he comments on wp) called me out and said its because most of the Republican state senators and reps voted for putting it on the November ballot. So I googled and unbelievably he’s partially correct–the majority of state Republican senators voted for it while the majority of Republican rep voted against putting it… Read more »
Exactly. In other states elections have consequences. Not so much in Illinois.
I’ll summarize for those without the time to listen. Elections are not going to fix Illinois. Maybe…just maybe when the state hits rock bottom then changes can occur. Until then, things will only get worse. If you are in the mood for a futile fight then stick around, otherwise move out of state.
Chicago and the state of Illinois are like that famous boiling frog: “The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than… Read more »
Perfect comparison. This frog jumped out 6 months ago with no regrets. Water getting too hot. Crime, mandates, and probability of re-election of same idiots has only made it worse
To heel and hide JB Pritzker will be a big improvement.
Be careful what you wish for….
How so? My guess is Pritzker really wants Durbin’s seat – much easier job.
The “get up and move” narrative is really tiresome. If you are one of the lucky few that can pack up and move, leave behind friends and family every time politics upsets you then that’s great. For the rest of us it’s not feasible and completely nonsensical.
Tiresome but true.
There’s an adage that few things worse than a red voter stuck in a blue state.
At what point have you had enough? Property taxes bleeding you dry? Loss of personal freedoms? Watching politicians fattening themselves? Show some spine to your friends and family. Those of us who have left have no regrets. Can go back to see family, new friends are easy to make, we’ve all left for the same reasons. We’ve had family come down and congratulate us and realize if we can do it, so can they.
The peasant revolt that just flared up as a result of Judge Grischow’s order is looking more and more like a last stand in the culture wars. The tide might be turning against the progressives as normie democrats are looking to fight back and even BIPOC voters are getting angry at the terrible return on their 99%+ democrat voting rate. We’ll see if this continues and whether change will come. it’s an uphill battle but not impossible. One random judge in Sangamon County threw a huge monkey wrench in the gov.’s plans and in Lard’s own words, caused chaos. Just… Read more »
Illinois has never had a more radical, Leftist governor than Pritzker. That’s not Illinois.
