The majority of Americans did not vote for Trump. He received 49.8% of the popular vote which means more people voted against Trump than for him.

The only other 2 term president to not get a majority of the popular vote in his victories. H. Ross Perot was a pretty strong 3rd party candidate in each of Clinton’s elections.
