To override Kim Foxx’s failure to prosecute violent criminals, why isn’t Illinois copying Virginia? – Wirepoints Quickpoint

Cook County’s violent crime surge is widely attributed, in large part, to Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s frequent refusal to prosecute criminals. Some counties in Virginia have likewise been plagued by “social justice” prosecutors elected with the help of contributions from George Soros, as Foxx was.

So, newly elected Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares moving to have his office take over the job and will be pursing cases that local prosecutors drop.

That’s an obvious solution that Illinois could have implemented long ago. Equally obvious is that it hasn’t happened because the Pritzker Administration, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and the General Assembly simply don’t care enough about Foxx’s malfeasance. She was endorsed for election by Pritzker, Raoul and basically the entire Democratic establishment.

It’s not clear whether Raoul currently has the authority to act unilaterally to take over the job Foxx refuses to do. However, any needed authority could be provided quickly by statute if Pritzker and state lawmakers wanted. Miyares is asking for such legislation in Virginia.

Don’t expect that to happen. Illinois’ state government has done nothing to address the scourge of violent crime and there’s no reason to expect any change.

Illinois is lost the idiots in Springfield have won. Illinois will go down by the bow just like Titanic.
Those Chumbalones will ask at some point what seems to be the problem?

Nothing will happen because Foxx isn’t the only fox in the henhouse.

Fat boy and Kwame Raoul both support what Foxx is doing. That’s why the State has not taken these cases.

The pushback in Va against Leftist Democrat policies is going to be fierce – people are absolutely fed up. Things are going to finally be set right. Hope some of that pushback shows up in Illinois.

Mark, I’ve been of the opinion for a while now that no incumbent in IL needs to be sent back to office. This includes Congress as well. Gong-Gershowitz, Fne, Schakowsky, Durbin, Duckworth, none of them. Kramer Raoul is even more invisible than Lisa Madigan. At least she picked a couple fights in her many years in office. I voted for his opponent who was “gasp” pro life! I think our local officials must be pro death, and pro damaging children’s health as well.

Never count on Republicans not to get wobbly knees when it comes time to implement the agenda they lied about implementing while campaigning. If you want something set right it has to happen independent of the Uniparty.

Illinois won’t be cleaned up until Chicago is. Way too much leverage over the rest of the state.

We will NEVER see pushback in Illinois! The corruption, and money to be made by corrupt politicians, is too widespread. Also remember, Pritzker has bigger aspirations in DC so he isn’t going to rock the left’s boat.

There’s no pushback because Democrats are more than 50% of the state. There is nothing we can do. Even Rauner basically admitted this, that his hands were tied by a Democrat controlled legislature. There are democrat operatives entrenched deep in the government that union contracts prevent him from firing as they thwart his conservative agenda. He went nuclear with the budget option and it backfired on him, although it shouldn’t have. It was the only card he had left to play.

He tried his hardest, did his best, and now he lives in FL.

”We”, you’re funny. You really think they’re the good guys, just like the Democrats do. Although I will reserve judgement on some the relative newcomers to the governors race. Usually though, you wave enough money in front of these clowns and they’ll vote to put their own mothers on the street.

They have no honor.

By the way Rauner was gutless. He dropped his tough guy act when he saw how much work it was going to take to win true reforms, and the financial toll it was going to take on him as well. You see he has many common financial interests that require Legislative cooperation, contracts and the like. He wasn’t prepared to truly go nuclear and risk future income, despite being a billionaire. He also was one of the first in line to get vaxxed as was every Republican politician who is furthering the doubt and fear of the shot. They’re all… Read more »

The IL AG office has no interest in public sector malfeasance. Never has. It’s an office more interested in class action suits than looking under its own hood.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
