"We have had scandals at the previous assessor's office and the board of review and unnecessary layers of government," said Reform for Illinois Director David Orr. "When you have unnecessary layers of government, it usually only helps the insiders while the rest of us pay the freight."

The value of the property has little to do with the cost of services provided. The physical property needs only fire and police and nothing else. The occupants need 911. The building does not go to school or uses the park and most services that are provided are way to expensive. If property is the main source of revenue then all should be valued at $2 or $3 or $4M+. Think of the revenue stream. How maybe elderly use the school system? What ever happened to the Property Tax Force? They are all getting paid to do nothing as are… Read more »
