Trump’s Justice Department moves to block Illinois from giving financial aid to illegals – FOX News

In its complaint against the State of Illinois, Gov. JB Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul, and the boards of trustees of Illinois state universities, the DOJ states that "federal law prohibits providing aliens not lawfully present in the United States with any post-secondary education benefit on the basis of residency unless that benefit is also available to United States citizens and nationals regardless of their residency."

This was a law enacted in 1996 and purposely ignored by politiicans of both parties, and of course, the university administrations. Long, long overdue

Illinois law doesn’t provide benefits to illegals that it doesn’t to citizens that reside in Illinois. It provides benefits to both citizens and illegals who attended an illinois high school for 3 years, graduated from an illinois high school and resided with parents are guardians while attending high school. This law has been on the books for over 20 years. The latest law recently signed by Pritzker provides state scholarship opportunities for ALL Illinois residents regardless of immigration status or selective service completion. Wow – These laws are so wrong. How does anyone get their mind to a place that this makes any sense? The existing law is wrong, but the enhanced solution signed by Pritzker is simply ridiculous. It is almost like he is trying to be outlandish at the tax payers expense.

If Illinois doesn’t have the common sense to keep enrollment and a myriad of other benefits from illegals, as least the federal government does. The grifting in this state needs to stop.
