Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. “They’ve been asked to take the place of the family, take the place of the church, take the place of the hospital, take the place of the supermarket. They were never ordained to do those things,” Brumley explained.
Now look at the initial demands of CTU in their recent contract negotiations. Look at who are the ardent supporters of the “community school” initiative.
They’ve been asked to take on these tasks? No. They have been relentless in their efforts to take over every facet of the community.
Quit throwing money at the problem. Require teachers to actually teach. CPS needs to stop blaming everyone else and they need to be fired if the students are not proficient. Hold CPS and CTU accountable.

They have the same rights to spend their own money.
They do. But can the normal person send theirs ? Their rights are violated forcing them to attend inferior schools
They should save money (lots of it) and send the kids to the same private school that Stacey Gates sends her children to.
