U.S. Rep. Mary Miller targets China as security threat to U.S. real estate, schools, farmland – Center Square

Miller introduced the Protecting Our Farms and Homes from China Act, banning Chinese companies and individuals affiliated with the CCP from buying agricultural land in the U.S. and require such parties who already own U.S. agricultural land to divest of it within one year.

I don’t care who Sponsors this bill, this needs to be done. How about China owning most of the pork farms and that alfalfa farm that is foreign owned? The US needs to protect our food chain.

Agreed. The reason orange juice is going through the roof and avocados are doing likewise is because greedy landowners sold their lands and said crops, once plentiful in the US now come from other countries. The farmers in Mexico leveled thousands of acres of corn to grow agave for tequila. Now they have plenty of tequila ( that is on the wane in popularity ) but not enough food. The water gobbling alfalfa fields of CA are almost exclusively owned by Arabic countries that dutifully harvest it and ship it to the Middle East.

As far as I understand it, what you’re describing is capitalism. What Mary Miller is proposing seems to be a form of socialism in which the government is determining who owns the land. I think Representative Miller is pretty familiar with government involvement as her family is involved in agriculture.
