U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley: It’s not too late for Chicago to pursue cost-saving measures – Chicago Tribune*

"Finally, the biggest challenge facing our budget — underfunded pensions — is excluded from this EY report. The tough but honest truth is: Unless Chicago tackles its pension debt, it will never escape its budget hole. ... We have to bring retirees, current employees and taxpayers to the table to talk about real solutions, together, and chart a path forward."

Chicago democrats are going to cut costs, eh? Emmanuel closed 50 schools years ago and is still catching grief for that common sense cost saving measure. The CTU and other public unions will be howling at the mere thought of budget reductions.

Yep – another pol talking about cost-cutting measures for the City of Chicago. We already know the outcome: either no cost-cutting or not enough to make any noticeable difference to the taxpayers.
