University of Illinois student government demands school bar Jeff Sessions from campus – Jonathan Turley

The student government at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has overwhelmingly passed a resolution demanding that former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions be barred from campus. Sessions is schedule to speak on February 1, 2022. The “Safe Campus” resolution passed 21-5-1 and declared that the visit is “inappropriate and insensitive” and a “‘slap in the face’ to the university’s commitment to DEI.

These are the same nut jobs that probably support Satan clubs in elementary school. I want my tax money back – I didn’t agree to pay for this crap.

Dear U of I folks: A tenet of learning is the capacity for your thesis to stand up to challenge. If you believe Jeff Sessions represents the “wrong” side, the only way to demonstrate that is to engage him in a civil, polite discussion where each is given a chance to explain and support their perspective. If, on the other hand, you are afraid your position lacks the fundaments to withstand said conversation/dialogue, by all means, censor and cancel those with whom you “disagree”. Pathetic. As a 2 time UofI alum and one who considers himself an unabashed liberal at 87, I must say that the members on the student government at the UofI must have been voting viscerally rather than what good sense should have told them! By trying to limit Sessions access they are using the very same playbook that many of the people they oppose are using that they claim is wrong!

The man who took down the KKK in the south is banned from speaking because DIE. How ridiculous. This is about power and denying their enemies comfort.

Young kids don’t share the same freedom of speech values that we do. Freedom of speech doesn’t apply to ‘racism’ and ‘racism’ is any speech they don’t like.

Its not really about speech, it’s about power. They have power to deny a powerful white man a platform, because he is a white man with conservative values, and white men are the devil.

The UIUC student government is likely left of the student body.

What percentage of the student body knows or would even care about a Jeff Sessions speech on the UIUC campus.

Very few people knew or cared about Session’s speech. And that’s the point of the student government – shut down any dissenting voices completely. Because racism or something.
