UpRising Bakery in Lake in the Hills plans to close amid ‘endless harassment’ – CBS2 (Chicago)

Vandalism and threats directed at the bakery made headlines ahead of a planned drag brunch. A campaign was launched to "discredit, damage and defame Ms. Sac, her staff, her food, and her patrons," with protesters spending more than 120 days on the row on the property. Owner Corinna Sac and her two young children were also doxed, according to the bakery.

It’s unfortunate when any business goes under, but I would’ve guessed the “harassment” would’ve led to great business from all their advocates. What really happened is their “advocates” left them high and dry once the political attention moved on to the next outrage and they had a shaky business model that was unsustainable under normal circumstances.

The mob moves on.

Everything reaches a tipping point eventually. It appears that the public, at least in this community, decided that grooming children isn’t okay. I concur!

Congrats to the community of lake in the hills. They exercised their right to 100% legal freedom of speech, and showed these groomers what ********* they are, and showed them the door. It pleases me to hear that they might go bankrupt too, having put all their money into the business, and have it fail spectacularly.

>>due to “horrific attacks” and “endless harassment” for its support of the LGBTQ+ community.<<

Or, maybe…

You mis-judged your customer base, thinking it was much larger than you believed…?

It’s simple supply & demand…

What you are “supplying” is just not in “demand”…

How about setting up shop in an area where there is a demand for what you supply…?

That would be a wise business decision, instead of trying to force your beliefs on people,,,

They would do a thriving business in Chicago’s Boystown or Andersonville, or even Evanston or Oak Park…

I’d say they “failed to do their due diligence” in choosing a location…

Business that groom children shouldn’t be allowed to open anywhere.

The gay rights movement got everything it wanted — the end of sodomy laws, marriage rights, non-discrimination laws and a measure of cultural acceptance.

But an activist movement without a cause can’t raise money anymore.

So these activists are now scraping the bottom of the barrel for lunatic causes to keep the cash coming in — like sex changes for kids, sexualized school curriculum and library books, 101 genders, men playing women’s sports, men using the ladies bathroom, and the goofy pronoun nonsense.

That insanity is why they these activists getting so much blowback from the rest of society.

Yup, Giddyap, as an older gay I remember “the bad old days”, when we were harassed, fired, and discriminated against; I know older gays that we were even institutionalized by their families for their “deviant” “mental illness”… Within the last 50 years *everything* the gays have demanded has been *more* than granted – gays have power and influence and acceptance now undreamed – of even during Obammy’s presidency… I’m sickened by the grifters who are pushing perversion and mayhem on our children, our families, and our society… they are akin to the BLM claque – they want to destroy the… Read more »

A hard truth is being discussed in conservative circles right now, is that in retrospect, gay marriage was the inflection point that inevitably lead the morally destructive and degenerate world we live in now. We are the first major society in the history of the world to accept that men can marry men. We’ve tossed aside the collective knowledge of 10,000 years of lived history, and the wisdom of all our ancestors that prohibited such an abomination, because we modern people believe we have figured out a truth that no one in the history of the world has figured out.… Read more »

As a gay guy, I *totally* agree… I’m all for legal civil unions between same – sex partners, but “gay marriage”, – NO…!!! https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/civil_union “A civil union is a marriage-like relationship, created primarily as a means to provide recognition in law for same-sex couples. In other words, civil union is a legal relationship between two people that provides legal protection to the couple at the state level. If a couple is in a civil union they get inheritance rights, employment benefits, property, parental rights, etc. Vermont was the first state in the U.S. to recognize civil unions. The state supreme… Read more »

I used to be totally for civil unions as a way to differentiate it from marriage. But the problem is, where does it end? And even the boundaries of ‘marriage’ are being pushed now. Why can only two people marry? Isn’t that discriminatory to a third, or fourth or fifth person who wants to enter into a entirely consensual relationship? That’s the next frontier of civil rights – bigamy, polygamy and so on. And that goes even one step further – why do people need to marry? Marriage is a privilege that discriminates against non-married people! I’ve seen arguments pushed… Read more »

“… A family-friendly drag brunch…”  As a gay guy, I enjoy a good drag show as much as anyone – but in the *context* of an ***adult*** entertainment venue… This whole drag/trans schtick has now gone *far* beyond the realm of “entertainment” – the ultimate goal is now to totally sexualize young children, with the ultimate result to normalize pedophilia… So good riddance to this pestilential “bakery” – maybe the owner should open an adult entertainment venue… https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4478390/ “Diagnostic criteria of a pedophilic disorder according to DSM-5. DSM-5 pedophilic disorder. Over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent, intense sexually… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
