These contract talks are a naked display of what’s been going on for years- public employee unions “negotiating” with their bought and paid for politicians.
It’s the voters? There is only one group of people who voted directly on the contracts- public union members who voted to ratify each and every contract. Those who voted No did so only because they wanted more.
To those who just want to scream “Pay me!”: for around 500 years we have recognized that Shylock demanding his pound of flesh was the villain of the piece, not the hero

ROFL…. Didn’t even read the article. Couldn’t stop laughing at the words “gifted” and “working”.

Old Joe was the oldest of 7 kids. He wouldn’t take any crap from his younger siblings. He did try to set a good example though. Mum even told so — decades ago.

Ah well the problem is, like always, a lack of spending money and nothing that a few tax hikes wont fix the usual Chicago Illinois way.

Who really knows the truth at this point. I wouldn’t even bother turning to Rich Miller, he’s just pure propaganda, paid to feed you lies on behalf of on side or another.
He thinks being a middle child makes him “gifted”. I guess he’s a member of the everybody gets a trophy gang.

This is a developing story that definitely warrants close watching. While JB and Brando have never been on the same page, it has reached a new level of frustration as JB has gone public with the total lack of a working relationship between Springfield and Chicago. What’s even more interesting is that Speaker Welch has aligned with Brando on the hemp issue, and that will not sit well with Pritzker. Last time I checked, the State of Illinois faces a $3B budget deficit next year, Chicago has a billion dollar problem and CPS has a billion dollar problem as well.… Read more »
Yes, it’s a small part of a bigger issue for JB and many Dems. JB and many Dems today must be saying to themselves something like this: “I got on the lefty, woke bandwagon and that’s not working any longer. Even worse, I enabled those like Brandon who don’t even care about that political reality. The least I can do for now is scrape off people like Brandon.”
In today’s unbelievable press Q&A, JB totally unloads on Brando as basically states he’s a complete incompetent. JB’s comments on his synthetic hemp (Delta-8) regulation bill not even getting called for vote: “I was tremendously disappointed that this is a demonstration, from my perspective, of the power of special interests and the money that they spread around to thwart health and safety of the public,” Pritzker said (https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/01/07/feud-over-hemp-bill-dominates-final-days-of-illinois-legislative-session/) Who are the “special interests” spreading around money? Is Brando & Welch getting kickbacks or campaign contributions from the Delta-8 industry lobbyists that are so powerful they’re shutting down Governors signature bill?,… Read more »
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

they’re ripping Brando on Cap Fax 24/7 as well.
Johnson has a strutting, egomaniacal opinion of himself that would make Mussolini blush.

Today’s trib editorial does a way better job saying what I was trying to say;
(https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/01/08/editorial-brandon-johnson-pritzker-hemp/)
Absolutely rock bottom pathetic, putting your upper-income public sector “progressive” buddies agenda ahead of kids health.
Unfortunately all the sides are LEFT.
