Since the shrinking population is due to high taxes and user fees, he’s already shown that the reality is he won’t do a lot of work in the State of Illinois to ease the huge taxpayer burden. So, his quote is only off by a word or two. It should read: The reality is we don’t have a lot of work to do in the State of Illinois. There, now the quote makes sense.

Illinois got the governor they deserve: a self-entitled, rapacious billionaire who has never done an honest day’s work, never had to think too hard, nor had to wait his turn or admit his own mistakes.

Gee, you’ve reminded me of another person, a Republican, who is of much larger consequence on the national stage. They are SO alike in the way you’ve described for Gov. Pritzker. It makes me wonder why you named one instead of, or along with, the other—a likely consequence of your own political persuasions, I’d guess. You seem so vehemently opposed to one but apparrently accepting of the other even of a similar ”work” background and social class. You are entitled to believe and promote what you want, but I find it a bit comically selective.

Can’t quite figure out if that is the case why Illinoisans are moving to Florida, Indiana and Texas, but hey, whatever. And we just lost another congressional seat, but not to worry , JB has a plan to deal with that. No details on what that might be–well, whatever. And for two years he has been saying that it is the bad weather in Illinois, but he must have fixed the climate already because he doesn’t talk about that any longer.… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
