Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. What an embarrassing Moron. Ted Debrowski just put out a campaign email with key financial issues facing Illinois. One after the other…Illinois is behind and penalizing citizens and tax payers. Even now, this clueless lunatic is looking at more and more ways to tax us. Can we please get rid of these crooks? All a media person would have to do, is use this email, all the work is done, and ask JumboJB about each of these issues. The fat man would get up and walk out or just lie.
The primary is only five months away. Ted’s ‘policy wonk’ campaign might not be enough to win over Republicans for a downstate primary win and definitely not enough to win the race next November. I would guess that one of his prongs in his strategy is to win over suburban educated moderate lefties. I don’t know if those people really exist any more; and to the extent they do, they won’t even hold their nose to vote for a Republican.
