Violence in some Chicago neighborhoods puts young men at greater risk than U.S. troops faced in Iraq, Afghanistan war zones, study finds – Chicago Sun-Times

Chicago police officers at the scene of a fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man last Sept. 2 in the 4400 block of West Jackson Boulevard in West Garfield Park. A new study describes the neighborhood during the COVID-19 pandemic as deadlier than a war zone.Says Brandon del Pozo, a Brown University researcher and former New York City cop who worked with three other scholars to examine violence in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles, “If you are talking about the historical predicament of young men in Garfield Park, it has never been worse.”

Apparently there is no institutional racism in Iraq or Afghanistan. Everybody knows that is what poses the real danger to young black men.

Segregation is not the cause of the violence it’s the result. Nobody wants to live next to the group of people who will spray a park full of children with a machine gun because someone dissed their girlfriend.

“”The findings of the study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, “suggest that urban health strategies should prioritize violence reduction and take a trauma-informed approach,” the researchers wrote.”

What a load of PC/woke-n-progressive blather and harrumphery.

Nothing’s going to get better for us until we disenthrall ourselves from the belief that responding to crime and criminality requires more expensive and profitless therapy, counseling, group hugs-n-2nd chances for criminals who really just need to go to jail.

Build more prisons, keep them full. When they fill up, build more.

That’s a big part of the only way that we’ll eventually come around to needing fewer of them.

The Chitty of Chicago is a war zone. The streets are lawless, the criminals run them.
Everyone knows there is no police protection, it is not a secret from anyone.
Chicago is in a free fall and has not hit bottom yet.

Pay for cops and get no protection or law enforcement.
Pay for teachers and get no education.
Families are at great risk.
Wonder why honest families are fleeing for their lives?
As the Song says “Chicago My Kind of Town”.

Well some are moving in that include those that come from around the world to get into Chicago. After all, with its great welfare system many just can’t resist the hospitality of the Illinois taxpayers.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
