Violence Interrupters, local activists lead CTA safety push – Center Square

Violence Interrupters founder Tio Hardiman said members will ride trains at least twice a week during so-called hot-spot hours where crime and trouble are known to be high. Interrupters will also provide outreach services, while faith-based leaders will promote peace, distribute public safety tips and public health materials. “We're not in competition with the police or the K9 unit,” he said.

I seem to recall a picture with Governor JB Pritzker with a “violence interrupter” who had four outstanding criminal arrest warrants from other states that were looking for him. Shortly after the photo was taken this “violence interrupter” was arrested for murder. I also seem to remember at least a couple of these “violence interrupters” being arrested for a variety of other crimes. This is not going to work out well.

What will the violence interrupters do on trains when the thugs wave knives and guns around?

These violence interrupters “…will also provide outreach services, while faith-based leaders will promote peace, distribute public safety tips and public health materials.“

I’m the literature will impress the thug element. Right before they demand the interrupters’ wallets at knifepoint.

The guy that was pictured with Pritzker will probably just pull his own weapon and open fire, quickly returning peace to the vehicle.
