WBEZ cuts back on local programming – Crain’s*

The changes also come as Chicago Public Media, which owns both WBEZ and the Chicago Sun-Times, is undergoing leadership changes. The company is currently searching for a new CEO after Matt Moog, the current CEO of Chicago Public Media, announced in December he'd be stepping down. Shortly after Moog's announcement, two more executives departed from the organization.

Let’s hope that Trump eliminates funding of NPR after he is reelected. I’ll gladly contribute more to WFMT for the classical music but suspect that amid the forces of the free market the useless and deeply biased Pravda rest of them will collapse.

WBEZ has mountains of woke shows/articles on Black & Latino equity bs issues. It would be revealing to know if anyone in Black or Latino communities are dialing in? I would imagine NOT. I would imagine young folks aren’t tuning in either…..Just the same upper-income old white lib virtue signaler Evanston types.

Spot on. The same limousine liberals who haven’t spoken to a black person in years besides the clerk at Whole Foods and the only Hispanic person they talk to is the maid. Yet they smugly consider themselves ‘Well informed’ about minority concerns because WBEZ and NPR tell them these concerns and issues.

Go woke, go broke!

WBEZ local programming tends to be preachy progressive lessons in Woke issues.

WBEZ programing deliberately ignores interests of its majority “old people” audience demographic.

WBEZ ignores our urgent need for factual reporting of local news, without progressive political editorializations. WBEZ too often champions our failing public government agencies and our incompetent politicians.

WBEZ’s primary mission is to sing praises of all things Woke, many things fundamentally transgressive to average Chicagoan.

No wonder listenership has declined dramatically. No surprise listener-support contributions fall short of fund-raising goals.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
