As for the megaprojects tool nixed by the Senate: “We still need that, by the way,” Gov. JB Pritzker said, reiterating his charge that Illinois is “behind the curve” given how 38 other states have a statewide mechanism for large developers to negotiate property taxes. “It’s just in Illinois where we have had a disorganized, dysfunctional endeavor forever, and now we’re trying to organize it and make it work, so that businesses will want to come.”

No one wants to admit it, but this isn’t Springfield’s incompetence. It is 100% intentional. They are playing political theater: pretending “Oh, we’re going to get a deal done,” only to pivot to “Oh, no, we won’t.” JB Pritzker gave the game away this morning when he suggested it was actually a good thing that the Bears are moving to Indiana, so Illinois taxpayers wouldn’t have to hand a billion-dollar tax cut to billionaire team owners. Pritzker is lying once again. He said 2 years ago that the Bears didn’t matter to him. Maybe if he stopped paying for illegals to get more congressional seats, there would be money for legal, non criminal IL citizens. IL taxpayers should not be paying for healthcare for illegals when working US citizens cannot afford healthcare.

They had plenty of time even before the Bears threatened IN. But IL legislators have always waited until the last minute to pass budgets and laws so people don’t have time to read them. But this one is ultimately about property taxes and voters are finally waking up.
