The Chicago Teachers union doesn’t just want 9% annual raises, they want that and even more – Wirepoints on The Shaun Thompson Show
Ted joined Shaun Thompson to talk about about the Chicago Teachers Union’s absurd new contract demands, why so many Chicago teachers are chronically absent, and Brandon Johnson’s failed first year as mayor.
“Waste of time” is a rather benign description of what they have done to children for 2 years.
My heartfelt thanks to all commenters for their well-considered responses to this and other articles. Surely there are some folks who contribute one-liners, and those can sometimes break (or create) tension.
All-in-all Wirepoints is vastly superior to any other discussions I’ve encountered.
So to the aggregators, content creators, and commenters – THANK YOU!
Short answer – yes, from day one. But why is the question termed in the past tense? “Were” they a waste? Yes. And yet the theatre continues. There is no convincing people, fear is irrational. So this gets to the longer answer, and it’s the same for literally every issue. Do it my way, and one is free to choose mask / no mask. Do it their way and masks are mandatory. See the difference? Every single thing they want banned or mandated, for example masks. The Illinois government schools are nothing more than a jobs program for the talentless,… Read more »
The biggest obstacle would be that so many Dem’s would be admitting they were wrong, together with their fear (or realization) that the Repub’s would exploit that in 2022 & 2024. I think (hope) that a coalition party would be the best solution — a place where the moderates on both sides could coalesce and perhaps compromise on the gridlock issues. I presume that Biden and Harris and Trump would be out of the running. Each side has been trashing the other for so long that I can hardly think of a candidate without blemishes. Manchin and Rand Paul might make a… Read more »
The Politico argument is pure access journalism propaganda preparing the political class for a contested election and how they plan on keeping Trump from taking office in 2024. They accuse TRUMP of trying to steal the election, so to save Democracy, Democrats need to steal it back. Remember the ‘war gaming’ of the 2020 election in case Trump somehow won (despite all of their efforts to stuff the ballot box and cheat)? They’re telling the political class, see, we’ve got it covered.
I value your perspective but think the polarization (a) is bound to increase and (b) is wearying to those who’d like it to stop or to diminish. Anyone’s guess as to how many moderates are left but I seem to know quite a few of them in the lefty environment where I live. It looks difficult for either the Dem’s or the Repub’s as currently constituted to nominate people from the center of the Bell Curve. Yet a third-party candidate like Ross Perot is simply likely to divide the Republican ticket (and vice versa with Bernie or Harris). I did… Read more »
