What’s the science in Illinois’ upcoming ‘bridge’ capacity limitations? – Quickpoint

Illinois is currently in Phase 4 of its reopening plan. It is preparing to enter the “Bridge Phase” this week, which are in the right column on the state’s chart below.

What sense does this make when the vaccine is now readily available to everyone over the age of 16 and those who impose this rule say the vaccine is safe and effective? That leaves only those under 16, but as of May 5, just 282 deaths involving COVID have been recorded in the U.S. since the pandemic began for those age 0 to 17, which is comparable to the flu in some years. That means the risk of one of them dying from COVID has been 0.0004%,

Note in particular the restrictions even for outdoor activity, though outdoor COVID risk is now widely regarded as negligibly small. The new capacity limitations will be 50% for outdoor restaurants; 60% for amusement parks; 30 people per 1,000 square feet for farmers’ markets; and 60% for spectator events.

And Chicago still pretends to enforce travel restrictions on 18 states, including Indiana and Michigan.

How do the state and the city expect to maintain any credibility whatsoever?

This is intended as a question. Where is the science in any of this? What am I missing?

it is fascist “science” of eugenics. Thank god for states like Florida and Texas putting a dagger the fascist covid coup! the exodus to these states has forced them to dial back the enslavement and launch a pipeline attack on those states!

I told my employer that the presence of masks in the workplace certainly must indicate the presence of danger. And that I will return to the office once the state is safe enough that they have the confidence to declare no more masks. Do I believe what they say or what they do? In most all things its best to believe what people do over what they say. Not having to wear crude gas masks is the best indicator if its safe to fill offices and schools again.

Democrats are primarily young people, academics and career government people. Oh, and stay-at-home wine moms peering through their windows looking for rule breakers (affectionately known as Karen’s). None of these people have ever run a real-world enterprise. They don’t understand the imperfections of the public and how they interface with businesses. They operate in theory. They think that everyone is sitting on the edge of their seat, breathlessly waiting for their next uptick in guidelines for permission. Like children, they will give us our allowance in increasing bits as we “prove” that we are capable. 50 to 60%?! Wow, thank… Read more »

I think you will find the “science” in the manifesto.

Take the Phase 4 Bridge to the Phase 4b Interchange. Travel 3 miles until you get to the Mask Cutoff, get out of your car, cutoff your mask, get back in your car, and continue to the JB Jughandle, go back in the direction you came 10 miles to the Phase 4c Offramp. From there it’s just 2 short miles to the Phase 5 roundabout, continue circling until you run out of gas.

This is brilliant. Give this man $1,000,000 dollars, some shake shack, McDonald’s, a beer and of course a Krispy Kreme donut.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
