Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
It becomes harder and harder for Illinois to stop the death spiral as independents and conservatives flee in greater numbers than liberals.
While red states fear the blue staters moving in might bring their politics with them, not true. We moved to a development in SC where about 75% came from blue states. I thought we were conservative, most of them are more rabidly so. People who sell their businesses, homes, and pull up stakes because of taxes, corruption, etc., got out for those reasons and won’t tolerate the same in their new places. I pity those left behind because of ignorance, lack of will, or connections to government unions, but as others have said, those are the ones (suckers) that the… Read more »
This is good to hear!
This is the kind of article that will make Jabba’s head explode. Hope he reads it
This actually pleases Jabba. He wants people like you to leave.
I don’t understand the down votes for Debtsor. Pritzker and others would indeed like to see people oriented around fiscal responsibility and less government control leave. People who disagree just get in the way, and given that the unspoken but operative play is a federal bailout, why would Pritzker think anything else? Mario Cuomo dug his own political grave, but it was over for him the minute he said that NY has to find a way to make its rich stay. Any narrative other than the well off or productive must simply stay and take it inflames the hard left.
There’s a troll out there down voting me. I post a lot of comments that speak Truth To Power and they don’t like that. Every blue state governor is making life for the red voters miserable. JB is no different. He won’t even give those leaving the acknowledgment that they’re leaving either. He called the out migration a rounding error’ that was basically college students leaving for other states. Real Clear had an article linked here that called into the question the accuracy of IL (and some other state’s) census figures too given how much money they threw at the… Read more »
Pritzker recognizes that those that leave the State are the ones that vote against him. The more that leave the happier he is as he continues to court State unionized employees and the Free Stuff Army that makes up his voting base.
Lol, imagine jabba reading the epoch times !
