The leftist media, of which NPR is part of, always has to force things through a racial lense essentially implying that white voters were against the tax and black voters for it. By my count, the ward i live in voted 85/15 for Biden but 75/25 for the tax, there is your 10 point swing. And by the way my ward happens to be mostly white.

And some non-Trump voters voted Yes, so the number of No’s from Dems is even larger. They just can’t get over the fact that so many Dems didn’t buy into their message.

I noticed that myself when reading the story. I was thinking that instead of focusing on race I would like to see how the voting went based upon the percentage of welfare recipients in a given district in order to see the actual impact the free stuff army voters have on elections of higher taxes when they, the fsa’s, pay no taxes. There might be some pretty interesting numbers to be found in a studyt like that.

Enough already. Support for the Fair Tax trailed Biden support by 10 points in Chicago and Cook County. Biden got 56% of the vote in Illinois. Extend that 10 point difference to all counties and the Fair Tax still loses.

Stop trying to pin this on downstate Republicans. More Democrats voted No than Republicans voted Yes.

It was decided in the collar counties. Many people there voted for Biden/Durbin and against the tax scam.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
