Why Does This Failing Chicago Public School Remain Open? – Chicago Contrarian

"Douglass High School was built for 912 students but today has only 28 kids thanks to the number of people moving away each year from Brandon Johnson’s drowning Windy City. ... Not one of its 28 students are proficient at reading. ... The proper move would be to close the doors on schools like Douglass and consolidate students in other areas. That would literally save the school district and the city millions a year operating, heating, and keeping the lights on in buildings that serve a tiny number of students."

Unfortunately, the only way such massive (but, not uncommon) waste can be stopped in Chicago is by following Detroit.

If they closed all the Chicago schools with students near zero percent efficient in reading a writing, more than half the schools would close. At least most aren’t spending nearly 100K per student to turn out future gang members.

Better question is how many teachers, janitors, clerical staff, principals, assistant principals, counselors are riding the gravy train with this “overwhelming” amount of students? What’s the true amount spent on this kindergarten class?

CTU controls the Chicago public school system. It’s who purpose is to create and keep union jobs in under used schools .

We could and then face a firestorm of being “ racist “ and “ inequitable “. It’s become a complex of its own, on a par with the military complex, etc. and other entities that actually have something to show for the amount of taxpayer dollars that they receive.
