so,if youre a politician in a democrat run state and dont see the exodus,youre either blind,stupid,or for some unknown reason,just dont care,im going with blind and stupid which describes most illinois politicians

My highly educated high school friend just told me that due to Pritzker Illinois is finally in sound fiscal shape. The thing is, looking at the math is so painful that it is easier to accept a palliative narrative. I sort of get it, although think it is delusional. Illinois has lost its way. A real driver and motivation in life is to make things better for the next generation or generations. Our post WW II predecessors had this ethic, and we benefitted greatly. I see nothing blameworthy about cutting their losses and protecting their families. It will be up to historians to make virtue awards to those with the courage to risk going down with the ship. Who remembers the name of the Captain of the Titanic? This does not mean that there aren’t objectives that warrant sacrifice but trashing Chicago while making it safe for the homeless and undocumented is a difficult case to make. Love to hear the long- and short-term reasons for Karl’s write-off of boomers acting in their enlightened self-interest.
