The criminal justice reform bill, along with the rest of the Pillars of the Illinois Black Caucus , passed only because of Racial Reckoning after St. George Floyd of Fentanyl’s overdose and the mostly peaceful protests that organically arose afterwards. IL Democrats gave the ILBC all the dream legislation they could have ever wanted, and more, no matter how ideological or dumb it seemed at the time.
