Young Workers Will Pay the Price for Chicago Mayor’s Employee Tax – RealClear Politics

Micky Horstman, of the Illinois Policy Institute: "If you have 500 employees in Chicago, you would now owe $126,000 annually. ... Young workers who already struggle with Chicago’s rising cost of living may face fewer job openings, lower salaries, and slower hiring. New graduates across the Midwest could start choosing other cities instead."

Don’t worry everyone, BJ confirmed that if you are in the city for less than 50% then the head tax won’t apply to you. This way companies will be incentivized to encourage 51% remote work from suburban employees to save money. Just think, fewer people in the city dining at city restaurants or using other services. Not to mention less office space is needed. Also, wouldn’t this mean there is an incentive to hire people outside of the city?

Talk about making a bad tax even worse. lol

Why not tax all the government employees the same tax $252 /yr. This tax is unfair to private sector business, and favors big public unions.

Best decision a young person can make is to start their career in another state. In Illinois they have to pay for a huge debt problem they had nothing to do with. Taxes in Illinois will go up for their lifetime, so they earlier they get out the better. I just loved the old Illinois but cannot stomach the new Illinois run by the public sector greed.
