On this site, we usually zoom in on data, facts and charts that inform specific policy issues.
Elections, however, are time to zoom out and step back – to reflect on where the sum of those details says we have gone, where we are headed and what we want from the election.
So, forget for a moment our usual links to supporting information or to any of our 2,068 original columns presenting that information.
Below is my personal view on that compilation for the topics we have covered on this site. These matters shouldn’t entirely determine the election’s outcome because there are other issues we don’t cover. I accept that.
I submit, however, that my views below are held by a majority of the population and widely regarded as exceptionally important. Hence, I will use “we”:
We are appalled by failing schools that prioritize woke political, racial and sexual indoctrination over basic skills.
We are aghast watching violent criminals destroy our cities and so-called prosecutors who let them.
We have had enough of politicians who demonized the police.
We have had it with Illinois politicians who pretend that our fiscal crisis is gone and continue to ignore our most critical financial challenge – pensions.
We are livid about inflation caused largely by absurdly oversized federal spending that was dishonestly labeled as pandemic relief.
We want the damn border enforced, which is among the most fundamental duties of government.
We are fed up with men competing in women’s sports.
We are infuriated with gerrymandered election maps that violated campaign promises of fair maps.
We are disgusted with how America threw away its energy independence and tired of naïve, unaffordable renewable energy goals, both federal and state.
We have had more than enough of the cancel culture and censorship by tech platforms, the media and illiberal mobs.
We are tired of those who disagree who respond only with empty charges of racism, fascism and the like.
We are horrified by the woke monopoly on higher education that has eliminated opinion diversity and academic freedom.
We oppose the excessive influence public unions have on Illinois government.
We are sick of seeing Illinoisans and our tax base flee and with lawmakers’ indifference to the causes, particularly high taxes.
We are aghast that personal responsibility and the golden rule have been abandoned as core values and replaced with indolence and grievance mongering.
We will never forget or forgive the incompetent and dishonest response to Covid, particularly school shutdowns that irreparably hurt so many of our young people.
We will not accept, under any circumstances, the growing assault on parental control over their own children, particularly efforts to end parental control over school curriculum.
We think the poor, the working class and minorities have been had by today’s left — the progressives in charge. They suffer hardest at the hands of progressive politicians who offer nothing beyond a life dependent on government.
And, perhaps most of all, we abhor, and will not tolerate, the lies told by politicians and much of the media, day in and day out, on issue after issue, without the slightest indication of conscience.

Expect no retraction or apology. This what they do.
The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.
The $hit show is already happening, many voting machines are “having issues”. Looks like the democrats are trying to rig another election.
I had the Charlie Kirk show on and he was anxious/concerned about the machines in some counties in AZ (where he now lives —- moved from Ill-inois) not functioning. Crazy!!!
Is anyone familiar with the Pennsylvania supreme court decision on mail in ballots?
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pennsylvania-court-ballots-in-undated-envelopes-wont-count/
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pa-court-says-undated-ballots-wont-be-counted-rnc-scores-massive-win-in-election-integrity-lawsuit
Great. I hope the court is wise enough to know that the potential for vote fraud is much higher in number when they don’t have the date rule than it is when they do have the rule.
Keep pushing back! There’s lots of psychological priming going on and we need to call it by it’s real name: social engineering. In psychology, priming is a technique in which the introduction of one stimulus (claims of ballot counts traditionally taking weeks) influences how people respond to a subsequent stimulus (abnormal irregularities and delays alluding to fraud). Priming works by activating an association or representation in memory just before another stimulus or task is introduced. In this case, the end result, if implemented successfully, will alleviate questions and criticism. It doesn’t take weeks to count ballots!!! Modern machines should be… Read more »
Very interesting! Someone on the radio said today that we can put a man on the moon, but we can’t get election results before the night is out. It’s really that there are individuals that don’t want to. :/
I know a little about this. I heard it discussed on The Mark Levine show.
The Pennsylvania Sup Ct. kicked the case back to the state (I think I’ve got that right). Essentially they were saying “there is a rule that mail-in ballots had to be dated; as a result, those that were not dated, should not be counted”. Monday night “the dems” went back to court again.
If there is a ‘red wave’, it’s happening in Trump Country. HUGE line at my precinct, I’d say more than the last presidential election. Took me an hour to vote, and people just kept coming. We are praying for the madness to end in IL. Very concerned about a steal.
Listening to the radio as results come in. Real close to 7 PM they declared that Fatso had gotten re-elected. smh
My wife and I went to vote in Lockport at 6 AM, 6 AM and we still had to wait in line outside the door. Pissed off people go out to vote. When people are happy they skip voting. It will be fun to watch the returns tonight, it looks to be a crimson tide. I’ve been voting at this building for 10 years and always just walked right up to the desk, it has never ever been this crowded.
If ever there was a laundry list to inspire pitchforks and torches in a march on Springfield, this is it. But alas, the electorate is ambivalent, apathetic, uninformed. The Illinois Republican Party has been eviscerated of leaders willing to scream out for change. The Democratic Party will remain thoroughly corrupt. The bureaucrats will maintain the status quo. And the media will be a complicit cabal of lapdogs. So nothing much will happen. Illinois will continue its slow descent into a fiscal abyss. People will complain and wish for better political leadership. Those with substance will depart, those who don’t won’t.… Read more »
It is a real shame the IL GOP is in such a pathetic situation but their position is not unique among minority parties in one-party states. Here’s link to our neighboring D party, the IN Dems…
They’re in a rebuild again. Kind of like the hapless Chicago Bears!
Project RebuildWe’re rebuilding Party infrastructure from the ground up so we can hit the ground running in the 2022 elections.

Hopefully some IL GOP statewide wins or local flips will allow some real leadership to rise to the top and give the party some direction, and a hope to go forward…
Thanks Wirepoints for making a difference and amplifying important information! This is a better article than the one I chastised a few days ago. The only things holding us back from putting an end to political corruption is morale, due diligence, research, organization and cohesion. Numbers and competence are on the side of the middle ground common sense public and this is why you won’t see a candid assessment from either party. Best of all, there’s a newly minted class of distinguished and competent professionals getting involved in politics and taking action. We’ve got a lot going for us and… Read more »
Mark, Wirepoints may or may not have referred to or discussed this topic at another time but, I want to point out that many of the items on your list are related to the ushering in of the agenda the global elites have for, not only Illinoisians, but for the world. Unfortunately, those of us in blue states with tyrants at the helm, have had a taste of what’s to come if they succeed; because these leftists love control and power and do not miss an opportunity to grab it (and retain it — after the election). We saw that… Read more »
Agreed. We are one element in a much bigger, global story, which is part of why we write.
“I submit, however, that my views below are held by a large share of the population and widely regarded as exceptionally important. Hence, I will use “we.”” The real question is how large of a share of the populace is the “we”. 42% of the population is a large group but not large enough. If it’s not enough to change the people that are in charge, then you can expect those politicians to give you more of the same. Afterall, the voters will have sent a message that they are happy with their representation. In less than 30 hours we… Read more »
We get it – you are primarily interested in your cut. Please stop repeating yourself.
He can’t help it. He’ll take anything they dish out so long as they keep giving him his stipend.
It’s time you accept reality Dirk. JB is going to be the governor of Illinois for the next 4 years. Even with all the things mentioned in this article, the majority of the electorate doesn’t seem to mind. Otherwise they would vote these people out. Then again, maybe they do mind a great deal but are uninspired by the ILGOP? Makes no difference either way. Also, I prefer that the GOP would gain some power in this state. It would more closely match the electorate as a whole. I’ll get my money whether a D or an R is in… Read more »
Now that’s funny. This site is filled with people that say the same thing over and over almost verbatim. Someone provides a statement that doesn’t match the echo chamber and it’s upsetting to you. We get it – you’re a snowflake that doesn’t want to hear the truth.
Why do you act so child like?
I agree with you — and on top of that, with all of the election fraud that goes on, it is difficult if not impossible, to send the message the citizens want to send.
41% is what Trump got in the most polarizing election since Abraham Lincoln won the presidency in 1860. But this year Independents have swung hard to the right. They may have voted against Trump but they are voting for Trump supported candidates. That is reflected nationally in every race from the federal gov. down to the local dogcatcher. According to super-left wing biased NBC, the Biden Entity’s approval with Independents has dropped from 61% in April 2021 all the way down to 28% last month. Rassmusen this past week polled Independents and found that nationally Independents tend to vote R+13… Read more »
I don’t disagree that a high mark for a Republican in Illinois would be around 46%. That’s what the GOP got in the massive 2010 wave election. I just don’t see Bailey getting that. We will find out soon.
Also, 1 in 3 chance of winning? It’s less than 1%.
I agree.
PPf, I think I agee. More like 60% to 70% would agree with the above, I think. Don’t equate us with the MAGA vote, as you say. And don’t measure anything in terms of JB vs Bailey because that turns on many other factors. Many independents and alienated GOPers would agree with the above. What I insist is true is this: Today’s far left has never comprised more than 25% – 30% of the population. That was enough, however, to win control of the Dems and, in an odd election, win control of IL and the federal government. They were… Read more »
And, I vividly remember 6 swing states pausing the counting late in the night, and resuming the following morning telling us Biden had a slight lead. And when it was all done, Biden had 81,000,000 votes, more than any president in the history of the United States. I know it’s uncouth to question 2020’s most secure election ever but I don’t care. I will go to my grave knowing that they stole the 2020 election from Trump in a 100 little ways that all added up… from ballot harvesting mules, to changing the voting rules, to flooding the electorate with… Read more »
Are you familiar with the Pennsylvania supreme court decision on ballots? Mail in ballots with the wrong date or not dated will be set aside and possibly not be counted. There could be as many as 250-500K such ballots but not sure.

That’s me!
Absolutely correct! Well done!
A great list, but my overriding concern is if there is such a thing as an honestly tabulated election anymore. We are on the eve of what you will see is the most corrupt election ever conceived, anywhere. On Wednesday everybody will be screaming election fraud on both sides, there will be delays delays delays, people will wonder why the gov can’t do something as simple as counting, Confidence will erode. And for good reason, elections in America can no longer be trusted, they are rigged, chain of ballot custody is gone. Someone once said that with elections, it only… Read more »
I share your concerns. As one born and raised in Ill-inois, I think I should have been doing so as long as I’ve been voting. Now, it has only gotten much worse. And Stalin made the comment you shared. Very very scary
Yeah, a water main in Georgia election HQ just happens to “break” late on counting night when it has never broken before in 30 years. But there is no wet carpeting, no clean up crew no proof a main really broke. Building is cleared of watchers, but the partisan counters stay, then mysteriously a bunch of votes in suitcases emerge. Drop boxes with people dumping stacks of manufactured votes. It’s all become a scam. Now Biden goes on a week before and talks about nothing but the mortal sin of doubting an election, rather than what most parties talk about… Read more »
Every bit as profound as Martin Luther’s 95 theses nailed to the church door, I would argue-we are at that kind of tipping point. However, I fear things are to late for IL and in particular Chicago.
Wirepoints continues to diligently log the facts of current events so that in the future historians looking over the ruins of Chicago and IL will understand what happened here and perhaps learn from all the mistakes of the people here..
A true definition of Journalism: “Wirepoints continues to diligently log the facts of current events so that in the future historians looking over the ruins of Chicago and IL will understand what happened here and perhaps learn from all the mistakes of the people here” Too bad that nearly all other precticitioners are actually Pravda Democrat Party propaganda shills.
A good summary–and, sadly, a lengthy summary. I appreciate what appears to be the ceaseless work done by Wirepoints to research, analyze, and disseminate the facts that form the foundation of the troubles we now endure.
Wonderful summary of everything that has gone wrong in Illinois and the USA in the past 22 months Mr Glennon. Great job!!!!
While many of Illinois issues/concerns are inherited from the national ultra liberal agenda, some are more local and self inflicted. Here is the Honest Jerk prediction. The Illinois governor will be reelected. You will continue writing Wirepoint comments about how he is a terrible person and give each other a thumbs up. You will say to yourself, “I didn’t vote for these crooks so it’s not my fault.” When all is said and done, you will meekly submit to many more years of high taxes, high crime, and outlandish corruption. You will never admit that you are part of the… Read more »
HJ, your comment is a bit harsh, but pretty much sums up how I also feel. I didn’t deserve any better when I lived in Illinois. I had to earn it by undertaking the extreme hassle of moving. Those who just bend over and take it year after year, I don’t understand.
A bit harsh? A bit of an understatement.
It’s an illusion to believe that you can simply run away from the clear issues that Mark outlined in this article. If these ideas are not defeated, no state boundaries will protect you.
Other states would never dream of something like a safe-t act. Other states would find Illinois real estate taxes unthinkable. You can run away.
For now. Leftism is like a virus. It eventually infects everyone who hears and reads it. Unless you have an immune system of knowledge, experience and wisdom.
I have been a “leave Illinois” proponent, but increasingly I’m resentful that I must flee and concede my area of birth and raising to a bunch of corrupt, uneducated malcontents who know nothing.
I’m getting into a fighting mood. Why not raise a little hell and make them suffer some?
By all means, go for it. As long as it’s just you, and your kids/spouse won’t suffer along with your choice. I caution others with your opinion that the longer you stay, the higher the risk (financial and safety).
IE, I understand your sentiment. My family came to Chicago pre-1900, and there’s almost no one remaining. My cousins all left years ago, and in retrospect, the smart thing would have been for me to start over in a low tax state with better weather years ago. I would be in a much better financial situation if I had done so when I was younger. The alternative to the hopeless fight in Illinois was me moving to purple state North Carolina and helping to make it a red state. My vote counts over here. The other plus is that NC… Read more »
My family has been here 7 or 8 generations too, going back to the 1880’s. Most of that family line are deceased or too distant to provide any familial relationship at all.
Living in this blue state was tolerable for most of my life. There are trade offs. Good schools, good jobs, cheaper home prices but high taxes and schlitlib neighbors. To each’s own tolerance levels.
But after 2016, after Trump was elected, things went so far to the left in this state that its no longer a tolerable place for conservatives to live.
I agree, it was tolerable, especially when Chicago was still the “city that works”, and the crime was “over there”.
DuPage County shifting to the left as the county got wealthier was a big warning sign for me to get out of Illinois,
DuPage County shifted blue because of immigrants.
Democrats win congressional districts 90% of the time if the district has more than 14% foreign born residents.
DuPage is 19% foreign born meaning 1 in 5 residents is an immigrant.
It turned blue as a result.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/02/07/democrats-winning-90-congressional-districts-with-large-foreign-born-populations/
Interesting. But it was my smug, wealthy, lefty neighbors that bugged me the most.
I agree HJ. The only caveat is that people should not have to move their residence in order to receive honest, ethical and responsible governance. Also, some people can’t afford (financial, family, employment) to leave. Otherwise I agree with you 100%
Dale, usually the issues that keep someone from leaving resolve themselves given enough time. Kids graduate, elderly parents pass, new employment opportunities arise. Illinois has been a mess for a decade (perhaps more). People that claim to be stuck are making excuses (usually).
For a different point of view, be sure to read that new Fox piece by a guy who chose to stay: https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/planning-move-chicago-georgia-conservative-changed-mind
“So, I’ve decided to stay and try to make a difference, and I encourage my fellow conservatives to do the same.”
He was planning to move to Georgia, a state where Stacy Abrams was almost elected, and one of the most liberal southern states. Just a small clue that his thought process is flawed.
Not to mention Atlanta has a higher crime rate than Chicago. He was never leaving.
Illinois will not change for the better until the leftists who outnumber the good people decide they have had enough and vote against their corrupt and immoral leaders. The change needs to be led by the voters who are the source of the problem. Yeah, not gonna happen, right? If the leftists cannot see how the Democrat regime in Washington and the evil cabal that runs Illinois and Chicago have directly caused the current horrible situation through their policies in a very short time period, they are beyond hope. Further, if there is a red wave on Election Day throughout… Read more »

If you own a small business it is VERY difficult to leave. Especially if it is a successful business. Plumbers, electricians, auto mechanics, restaurant, grocery store, etc that leave Illinois are starting all over again from scratch in a new location. That could be a five or ten year hit in recovery of business volume. Plus local knowledge of the plumbing or electrical code or local tastes and preferences. You start this small business when you are 22 or 23 years old and long before you know what a mess is Illinois. After ten years of a growing business –… Read more »

The democrat down voting bloc is very active in Wirepoints. Down voting all comments that are true about the destruction democrats have handed citizens while sitting in their basements and keeping the candle lit in front of the obama statue. Down vote away idiots!
Vote straight red. Respectfully advocate that friends and relatives do the same. That’s all we can do.
As if they would listen. Talking to a democrat/liberal is like talking to your pet frog. The frog is smarter.
You can make a life for yourself (and family) in a state that better aligns with your values.
….instead of giving your tax money to people who hate you, your family, and your way of life.
Great summary. But TPTB do not care. Expect off the charts election fraud this cycle. They blatantly cheated their way to putting a dementia riddled old man into the White House and nothing was done to law breakers. They now have all the three letter federal agencies aligned against The People. They do not fear reprisals. In IL, they’ve bribed govt unions with amendment 1 and federal emergency Covid dollars to provide the labor for the steal. IL will get it good and hard this cycle. But it’s the citizenry through its ambivalence, ignorance, and apathy that have ushered in… Read more »
