And now that they’re over, how much harder it will be for Illinois revenues to grow.
Election integrity – both real and perceived – is essential to government’s legitimacy and stability. Illinois, like the rest of the nation, better fix its problems now.

There is no shortage of mindless sheep in Illinois. Mostly clustered in and around Chicago. The rest of the state would secede if they could.

It’s because of the unions. Teacher unions do not want anything changed and if we had conservative leadership and a conservative legislature (neither of which we presently have), the IL Constitution would be opened up and altered. This would affect teachers, administrators (of which I was one yet I’m conservative), judges, police, etc. Unions have IL by a stranglehold and Biden just gave them a gift for their financial malfeasance over the last number of decades.

Sure they would, but its likely only a very small percentage of down-staters realize that its the collar counties rather than the downstaters who are net-losers as to where the state income tax money goes. So, its akin to “cutting off your nose to spite your face.” They don’t like Chicago-area politics but happily adjust to the net tax windall courtesy of the NE counties in IL.
The rest of the state wouldn’t have any money without Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The rest of the state doesn’t provide nearly enough in taxes. They are takers.

Everyone should read Gus Russo’s excellent book about Chicago politicians, Chicago Mob, and Chicago elite families, including Pritzkers: “Supermob”. Book dates back about two decades, but still spot-on.
