Two of Illinois’ most fiscally reckless and dishonest lawmakers push resolution on federal spending priorities

Four Illinois House Democrats sponsored a resolution last week calling on the United States Congress to change its spending priorities. As reported by Illinois News Network and the Illinois Review, they want money going to the military to go instead to human and environmental needs including solar panels for other countries. Lawmaker scolded for proposing anti-Trump military spending measure – INN

A state resolution criticizing President Donald Trump’s military spending sparked a firestorm of criticism Thursday in Springfield. State Rep. Laura Fine, D-Glenview, proposed a resolution calling on Congress to “move our tax dollars in exactly the opposite direction proposed by the President, from militarism to human and environmental needs.” She said that many social safety nets could be funded with just a fraction of what the nation spends on its armed forces.

Wow. Crain’s endorses local right-to-work for Illinois

How ’bout that! Crain’s Chicago editorial board, which generally leans Democratic and liberal, just came out opposing further efforts to prohibit local ordinances creating right-to-work zones in Illinois. This past week the Illinois House failed to override a veto by Governor Rauner of legislation that would have banned local right-to-work. In fact, it would have criminalized officials who act to implement local right-to-work. Democrats are expected to try again but Crain’s says they shouldn’t.
