Gov. Pritzker signs bill to expand use of expressway cameras for law enforcement – WAND (Decatur)

Among other actions, House Bill 260 allows for the use of expressway cameras along Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive. This gives police the ability to use images from expressway cameras to investigate vehicular hijacking and other criminal activities, detect highway conditions and facilitate highway safety. This legislation is effective immediately.

Effort to Tighten Chicago’s Ethics Rules Stalls Without Lightfoot’s Support – WTTW (Chicago)

In addition to hiking the fines for ethics violations, the measure would expand the number of companies doing business with the city that would be limited to contributing $1,600 to any one candidate per year, expand the city’s rules against nepotism, ban former alderpeople who work as lobbyists from the floor of the Council Chambers, and require aldermen to leave the council committee room during discussions and votes on issues where they have an interest and have recused themselves.

Race, politics and misinformation combine as false story about Oak Park and River Forest High School grading goes viral – Chicago Tribune/MSN

In a statement issued Tuesday, school officials said the story was not true, and that they have no intention of implementing a race-based grading policy. “We encourage the community to seek information directly from the district or other reliable news sources rather than internet sources that continue to share inaccurate information,” they said.
