He is a scion of a billionaire family, whose members include former secretary of commerce Penny Pritzker, who was an Obama campaign donor. Another Pritzker sibling, meanwhile, exemplifies how the family has used its vast wealth to promote liberal causes: specifically, the cultural normalization of transgenderism. “
Two of the hottest housing markets are downstate where sales and prices were up. The median price for a home increased in May year-over-year by 27.3% in the Kankakee area, and 23.4% in the Carbondale/Marion area.
Lori Lightfoot submitted multiple proposals to the city council to spend $69 million on affordable housing developments, the Chicago Business Journal reported. If approved, the projects will be partly funded by bond sales and would come on top of $1 billion the city has already approved.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration has rejected bids for more than $500 million in city work sought by a McKinley Park asphalt maker and several rivals, saying that the companies must show plans to control pollution. MAT alone bid on the entire scope of work — providing city crews with asphalt for street repairs and potholes — and submitted lower bids than its competitors for at least four of five areas of the city.
Despite the changed designation, the city will not be reintroducing mask mandates or other requirements. “I want to save mandates for when we really need them,” said Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady.
With only 55% of lifeguard positions filled, the Chicago Park District will limit access to certain “underutilized” beach areas in order to redeploy lifeguards to pools. Among the factors the district used in selecting pools: geographical location, staffing requirements and availability, the condition of the pool, historical usage, pool capacity, access to public transportation and safety considerations.
“It’s no wonder people and corporations are leaving. But the tragedy is that these are public-policy issues that are relatively easy to fix. There is a lot to gain if state leaders listen to those advocating the well-being of all Illinoisans, rather than continuing their political tradition of sacrificing the state’s future to offer short-term gains to powerful special interests.”

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office had no comment on the referenda but points out the Legislature sets guidelines for sentences which are then handed down by judges.
The expected budget hole in 2026 is $730 million. The RTA is already planning how to address this yawning void. Policymakers are considering options that include a sales tax increase, driver’s license fees, fuel taxes, car registration fees, even congestion fees.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker has made a big deal about “balancing the budget” during his three years in office, but like we’ve said all along, the budget isn’t balanced and hasn’t been for years. Any claims of balance are simply untrue. For proof, look at the recent Auditor General’s review of Illinois’ five state-run pension funds.
Tuesday is Illinois’ primary. The general midterm election is Nov. 8.
